Sierra Club New Orleans Group needs Volunteers for Audubon
Zoo's Earth Fest
Audubon Zoo's Earth Fest 2008 will be Saturday,
March 15, and Sunday, March 16. We hope that you will be able
to join us as a volunteer.
Earth Fest is a popular annual event at which organizations involved
in conservation projects and environmental issues engage in dialog
and activities with zoo visitors, averaging about 8,000 people a
day. Visitors play the popular Earth Quest Game in which they
receive stamps for answering a question at the booth.
The following is a general outline of the event.
- Exhibiting organizations are housed in shared tents with an 8-foot
table and 3 chairs for each group. Exhibits are manned from 10 to 4.
- Audubon Zoo provides signs that identify the group.
- Zoo passes are provided for your organization's staff and volunteers
that will be staffing the booth (8 each day).
- Non-profit organizations may sell memberships.
- Some organizations provide handouts, activity booklets, brochures,
fact sheets and similar material.
If you wish to participate, please let me know by March 1st.
The shifts available are from 10am to 1pm and 12 to 4pm Sat or Sunday.
First come first served on the shifts. More details will follow.
Please call me at 837-5105w or 529-2089h if you have any questions
