Help out at the Greek fest

On May 22nd to May 24th, (Memorial Day weekend), the
Greek Festival http://www.greekfestnola.com/will be held on Bayou
St. John at Robert E Lee. As in previous years, Canoe and Trail has
been invited to rent canoes to the public on the bayou. Proceeds are
shared with the church.

During the fest, Canoe and Trail will have 6 scheduled three to four
hour sessions when we need about eight volunteers per session.
Volunteers are needed to handle the life vests to get them on and off
of the paddlers and to hand out and retrieve the paddles. Agile and
strong dock workers are needed to help paddlers into and out of the
canoes. And finally Canoe and Trail needs experienced paddlers who
are skilled in canoe over canoe rescue techniques who will be in the
safety canoes monitoring the paddlers.

The sessions are Friday night, May 22nd from 7 to 10 pm.
On Sat May 23rd, from noon to 3pm, from 3 pm to 6 and 6 to 10 pm.
On Sunday May 24th, from noon to 4 pm and then from 4 pm to 8 pm.

If you would like to volunteer your time, talents and energy, we
would be very grateful. Compensation will be in gyros (Greek version
of a poor boy) and cold drinks.

The work can be very intense with lines of people waiting to go
paddling and lines of paddlers in canoes waiting to get off the
water. If participating in this canoe rental operation, sounds like
something you would like to do, please send an email with your time
preference to Byron Almquist byron@canoeandtrail.com
